Lightbulb Laser To Turn Mains Voltage Lights

Hi there,
Does anyone know of anything that will turn on my mains voltage ceiling lights when i walk into a room.

I have seen this link http://www.alan-parekh.com/stair_lights.html that turns on low voltage LED lights, and wondered if you can get the same sort of thing that turns on mains voltage lights.

The wiring will not be a problem, as basically we are ripping all the old stuff down and putting up new, so I will be able to drill through my stud wall joists to accommodate the necessary wiring.

Thanks in advance.

The X10 system of plug in adaptors can be used to control lighting via motion sensors when entering a room. http://www.simplyautomate.co.uk/GuideToX10.asp?Cat1=82

I think this might be altogether simpler?

http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/...l%26homeRef%3D

Standard PIR, fit it in line with lighting switch... or on a fused spur...

I have to confes not to having used this one, but I imagine it can't be too tricky... as long as you're happy working with mains, otherwise get a sparky to fit it... If it's in a bathroom or Kitchen, then I think in England you need to satisfy new building regs (p)...

Hi there

thanks for that plubraich.

I've looked at the product manual and doesnt look difficult to wire in, (im 15, have done quite a bit of re-wiring, plug sockets, 2-way lighting cirucits that sort of thing, but im certainly no pro)

Cheers for replying, should do the job perfectly.

Thanks

they certainly will do the job. I have the same setup in my garage!

what you should bear in mind is, if you sit still for any amount of time in the room, they will turn off.

This happens to me in mygarage when I use the rowing machine, as its out of the pir's range!

If you do a "google" search for PIR light switch, there's loads of different ones about.
