Rako for table lamps?

I'm interested in getting a rako setup when (if!) we move, how do you use the dimming modules with things like table lamps? do they fit in the wall or are they on display?

The Rako line units are the same as the in ceiling ones other than the antena is on the inside.These can be mounted any whre inline .

does that mean you would sick them in the wall, say behind a faceplate and have the lamp wired through the faceplate? do some people have them "on display" if you like, ie not buried somewhere?

I'm a bit confused how it'd work in real life so if any one has some examples they could share (pictures would be great but a description will do!) I'd appreciate it.

I have mine inline mounted close to the lamps then fitted under the tables(great for wood not so great for glass).Because they are dark in colour they dont stand out and you can normally find some place to hide them.I wouldn't recomend fixing them in wall as if you ever need to change then it might be a bit of a problem.

Rako make two versions of their RDL250 and RDL500's. The 'C' is designed for hiding in the ceiling and the L version is the in-line vesion, in black with no external antenna.

These just sit in line on the power cord feeding the table lamps.

We have some demo ones we built up here with a plug on one end and a socket on the other, allowing us to plug into any light and control it.

Ahhh, the penny just dropped! so these just go on the power cord like, for example, a switch on a lamp's cord might? Now I get it... sorry for being thick, thanks for the replies.

For some reason I thought they needed hiding somewhere like the ceiling ones.

the in line and the ceiling come in the same case,as do most other Rako modules.the external antena is said to help with longer distances from keypad to dimming unit,for long runs you can add a booster(Rab100).they now also do a rack unit that will control i think up to 4 ccts to a 300w max(not sure about this best to check if its what you are looking for)
