Thanks: Gave 104, Got 153 | Infra-Red remote control for screen.
I started a thread in the Remote Forum asking where I can get a IR remote switcher for my projector screen. I currently have an RF one but I want IR so I can use my Harmony remote with it.
I really want something that will plug in and work, there's lots of "parts" that can be bought to make up such devices but I don't have the luxery of time at the moment because I' trying to get my house finished.
I've seen quite a few at pathetic prices up to £300.
Does anyone know where I can get such an item ?

Friend of mine has just done his fairly cheap with an X10 system, basically you need an X10 shutter control and then an IR to X10 converter, I think it was somewhere around 70 quid, try http://www.letsautomate.co.uk/ or http://www.cyberselect.co.uk/

I use the items above - both from Let's Automate. They work with my Harmony Remote and work well. It's the cheapest effective solution I have found P.

So do I replace the RF receiver/240v plug on the end of the screens cable with the shutter control (does it plug into the wall socket ?)
Can IR extenders be fitted to the IR-X10 converter so I don't have to have the black box on the wall ?

I got the X10 parts today.
How do I wire the shutter to the screen ?
At the moment the screen has four cables going to a plug with a RF reciever in it for remote operation.
The wires are brown, black, blue and a green/yellow.
Do I take all four wires out, put two in the shutter and then make up a plug and a cable to put a live and a neutral to the switch ?

Hi
You will need a box with a relay in it.
I've attached an image showing how to wire it.
Regards,
Steve

After not getting a reply on here I went to an X10 forum.
In the end it was Live, Nuetral and Earth coming out of a plug, the Earth went straight to the earth on the screen, the nuetral went to the neutral on the switch and the live went into switch with the Brown and Black coming out for up and down.
