Controling a RF device with IR?

A friend of mine has a Phillips pronto remote control ( I believe it's the TSU3000 or uk equivalent ) and wants to control a motorized projection screen with it. The remote for the screen is RF, and its not X10. The pronto has RF capability but we think it's only to send RF to the pronto extender unit. Is there a unit out there which will convert the pronto's IR output to RF to control the screen?

There was a (seemingly) suitable device listed on eBay Germany a couple of weeks ago - there was a post in (I think) the "remotes" forum about it.

You could make the screen x10 by using an x10 switchable power supply so that the screen is simply powered on and off by x10....then use an IR7243 to receive the IR and send the signal.

Thinking about it, how will this work? I understand how you can use X10 to power the screen on and off, but how is this going to raise and lower the screen? surely when the power is switched on the screen will just sit there waiting for its RF command as usuall? Hope I haven't made a fool of myself
