Calling Futronix P400 owners

I have just installed a P400 and a mix of 240v and 12v lights. (on different circuits)

I have a problem in as much as when the lights dim for example switching all off the 12v lights give a flash just before they go off for good. I have experimented and it appears the with the dimming level set between approx 3 to 10 the 12v lights light up at full brightness after that they operate correctly.

Has anyone come across this before?

To me that sounds like a surge from the transformer, have you tries any different one's???. I have 2 x P400, 1 x P800 with 3 slave points, and I have had no problems, but all my down lighters are mains bulbs. I also have a couple of P50's with mains bulbs, these dont dim so smothly, and flicker a bit when dimming ect, but once they get to there level, there fine.

One of my p400s does this but not when switching on/off but does the same type of flash when on a dimmed setting, and lights elsewhere are switched on/off (not always though) - only does it with one circuit (240v not transformer)

You could always check with futronix themselves - they are normally very helpful (though my recent experience with them wasnt so good when i bought the p50)

Just to follow up on this problem in case anyone else is suffering the same problem OR thinking of installing a P400 with low voltage lighting.

After speaking to Futronix (as mentioned they are very helpful) they recommended one particular type of transformer to use, this is the Aurora AU-E60, which can be purchased for a great price at this site http://www.thelightbulbshop.co.uk (I am not linked to this site in any way) and installing just one transformer per light.

I have now done this and the lights now dim perfectly

like i said - the one circuit that flashes like your description, is the one that doesnt go through any transformers! (ie 240v lights)

Hi

In defence of all dimmer manufacturers. It is important to always use recommend transformers. These are normally tested over many years (by customers) and found to work in most situations. Transformer manufacturers will always blame the dimmer when, in many circumstances, the transformers are the problem. For the best results do not mix transformers or transformers and 230v lamps on the same circuit.
