DECT phone recommendation

Hi,

after using the home cinema a few times in the last week and missing phone calls as I can't hear the phone any more, I think I should get a phone in my cinema room. I was being forcibly dragged around our local Comet whilst looking for a new tumble dryer when I saw some DECT phones. These seem ideal - there are some phone packs which had 3 or 4 phones that had all sorts of clever gizmos (you could send text messages from some of them...).

Can anyone recommend any good ones? I realise there are lots of different types but I need as a minimum answer phone facility, good range (our house has lots of thick stone walls), mains powered (don't want to be messing with batteries). Would be good to have at least three phones.

Any ideas?

I've had two sets of Siemens DECTs. The range, reliability and sound quality are quite good. Unfortunately the previous models I've owned have been far from user friendly or having an intuitive UI. Perhaps the newer ones are better.

If you're watching a loud film, you could still end up missing the call. I've got a modem running to my HCPC and a message flashes up on screen when a call is coming in.

You can also get caller display units that do something similar. Pretty useful when you're watching something you see that the call is from someone you don't want to speak to right then.

Lol! The £400 doesn't scare me - I'm more scared of the missus if she finds out

I like the idea of the caller display units - I'll check some out...

The modem idea sounds good, but I show most of my movies on DVD (although I do have a PC in there too so could maybe rig up a modem - bit overrkill just to check for calls though
