Suggestions for downlighter replacements in lounge

We are refurbishing our lounge and have put up a new ceiling with double plasterboard and resillient bars (for some soundproofing). Due to this I don't really want to drill holes into the ceiling for downlighters, and am looking for alternatives.

I'm thinking of putting some tracklights up on each side of the ceiling (4 in total) - the type that is a bar that has 4 gu10 spotlights on it. Has anyone done this and how does it look?

i'm hoping to put a projector on one end of the wall and so can't have a large chandelier or anything like that as it will get in the way of the projector picture, so not sure what other alternatives we have.

Any ideas appreciated!

If you have the height then maybe a tensioned wired system rather than tracks could be used?

Re: Suggestions for downlighter replacements in lounge

Is it possible to use LED lamps in the tensioned wire system? From my research they all seem to be low voltage 12v which I don't think LED GU10 lights come in.

cheers

Re: Suggestions for downlighter replacements in lounge

If youve gone to the trouble of constructing a secondary ceiling with resiliant bars for soundproofing the last thing you want to is start drilling holes in it for downlights. Bang goes your soundproofing.

Especially in a lounge, think discreet lighting, uplights, perhaps some concealed spots as accent lights, table lights etc.

What sort of style are you looking for.
