Digital distribution amplifier

Hi all,

Does such a thing exist as a Digital Distribution Amplifier rather than the traditional Analogue box from the likes of Labgear/Loft box etc.?

My thinking behind this is that in the next few years the analogue signal is obviously going to be switched off. After that (I'm talking a few years from now) are the manufacturers going to stop putting analogue receivers into their TVs? If so this could leave anyone with an analogue distribution amp looking for another means of pumping their various signals around the house.

Perhaps I'm being completely stupid and there are hundreds of ways of getting around this, it's just had me thinking for a little while.

Looking forward to your thoughts..

Re: Digital distribution amplifier

DTV is distributed by the same means as analogue, its just in a digital format. Loft boxes distribute DTV as well as ATV.

If your talking about RF2 from sky and other modulated sources there are lots of alternatives. IP will probably take over in the next 10 years. Baseband video can already be sent over Cat5 in Hi Def either as Video or as IP packets
