Blind control with X10

Hi

Is there such a thing as a blind controller X10 device? I'm looking for control of my venetian blinds and figured there must be something around that would motor-drive the winding action of the wand that opens/closes the blinds.

Something like this: Mini Blind Controller Receiver and Remote - Smarthome

Am I onto a loser and need to look at an expensive proprietary blind system instead of looking to control my existing blinds?

Thanks, Paul

Re: Blind control with X10

Hey Winny,

Im working on the same problem for a customer. He wants to get those exact motorized kits for his blinds. They work but nothing out there is x10 compatable. You can check out the insteon/somfy wireless kit and pick up some somfy RTS motors that would work. Or if you could find a motor that you could automate with a relay and then connect it to a x10 relay modual. Im not to familure with the x10 stuff all I've worked with is insteon. And there is a plug unit that has a built in relay that can be controlled so if you have it wired up right it will open and close your blinds. Im actually trying to find a system that works with a on off switch then it could easily be automated by just replacing the wall switch.

Anyways good luck man hope that was helpfull.

Jason

Re: Blind control with X10

Yes, there is an X10 shutter/blind/screen controller available in the UK - I have one and it works fine, but it does require that you have electrically operated blinds/shutters in the first place!
