Extension build, thermal blocks or breeze blocks

I am getting a 2 story garage extension done v.soon.

I would like to insulate as much as possible so am thinking about using thermal blocks in the outer wall.

Can I use normal breeze blocks in the garage part or the ext. and then change to thermal for the back of the build which will hold a kitchen etc.

Will mixing two diff types of 'blocks' cause any problems with the wall? I am concerned it might weaken and cause cracks etc. Due to cost I dont really want to have to use thermal throughout

What you have to remember is the thermal blocks are very light and soft. Mounting heavy items on them can be very difficult.

Last year I built a ground floor extension which is a combined kitchen / family room and used a mix of blocks. Light thermal blocks for the majority and normal breeze blocks patched into the wall at locations where I knew heavy items would be i.e. Plasma TV and kitchen wall units.
