Lighting solution?

Hi,
I have recently moved into a house and installed 2 stylish lights which I thought were connected to the room switch but it turns out that they weren't. Rewiring would be too expensive as I am on a tight budget, and installing switches for each light would ruin the look of them.

I was wondering if there was any simple wireless solution (cheap!), where for example I could add a smallish switch inside the light and have a wireless controller in the room. All that would be required was a single switch that allowed me to switch the lights on and off (no special effects).

I was wondering if any of you guys could help me source solutions to this problem as ive spent over an hour looking online and come up with nothing

The power source for the lights are wires and not from a mains plug.

Rako lights (Rako is leading the way in providing state of the art digital dimming technology.) work along the lines that you mention. You fit an in line dimmer, which receives instructions (turn on, turn off, dim to 40% etc) from a switch or keyfob via RF. No need to rewire. I installed in 2 rooms in my old house and am having them fitted again as part of a major renovation job. One lighting circuit and a switch is probably £150 to £200. I think I got mine from Simplyautomate last time. "Get" do a similar system, I think.

I looked at the products rako offers but I found that it all seems to be far more complicated than I need as well as being far above my budget. Is there no cheap alternative products in this market?

hey buddy it's probably best to give yoru budget and folks can advise or recommend a system accordingly

Well really im looking to spend as little as possible but I would say a max of about £70 if such a product exists at this price. Thanks for the replies guys

It might not work / suit your lights but at £17 and £7 for a fob its a cheaper option.

Can I ask a question here - did you replace existing lights, and if so, did they not work off the wall switch?

If these lights are a new addition to the room, and they are not operating off the wall switch, then what have you connected them to? I would say your first task should be to understand the existing room wiring. Please don't just accept on face value that you have managed to get a supply to the lights so that is ok. I'm not being critical here, but electricity can be a dangerous thing.
