Best Wireless Intruder Alarm

I know there are other threads on this subject but have found none that specifically address this question. Apologies, however, if it's already been answered.
Because of problems of disturbance with the installation of a hard wired system I am intending to install a wireless or hybrid hard wired panel with wireless sensor intruder alarm.
With the almost daily technological change I wonder if anybody can give me a recommendation as to the best alarm system available. The alarm is for a large domestic property.

Re: Best Wireless Intruder Alarm

How many zones (pirs/doors etc) do you require???

Check out guardall for the panel and visonic for the detection.

Thanks for the reply DR4K1.
There are 4 doors to the house and I think 5PIR's should cover all routes.

Re: Best Wireless Intruder Alarm

The newest system on the market comes out next month made by GSD and is the "only" grade 3 wireless system available so will be the best.

Today I would fit a Scantronic hybrid or the Risco Agility if you want a completely wireless solution including the siren and remote keypad.

Re: Best Wireless Intruder Alarm

You should get an installer to come and do a risk assessment and work out if you "need" it, its likely to be quite a bit more expensive. There really is nothing wrong with a grade 2 system if it meets your required risk and satisfy's your insurance company.

Re: Best Wireless Intruder Alarm

A company called ESP make an Infinite, if that's what you mean. It can be brought through TLC. It uses a hardwired bell through a wireless interface that needs a mains connection, usually in the loft. I've fitted about half a dozen but not my preference.

Re: Best Wireless Intruder Alarm

JohnS The recommendation was emailed to me and said "infinity", although that could be a spelling mistake.
I must admit the only "infinity alarm I can find is on www.wholesalesecurity.net/html/infinity_wireless_alarm_.html
I dont know if this is the ESP or not.

Re: Best Wireless Intruder Alarm

Yes that's the ESP. Are you looking for diy or an installed system?

Re: Best Wireless Intruder Alarm

JohnS. I'm getting a couple of quotes but I was originally looking at the best DIY system. Ultimately I'm looking for the best available. I've read adverse reports on some systems regarding interference and wireless range so I thought a commercial system may be better. I am fairly capable on electrical work.

Re: Best Wireless Intruder Alarm

The ESP is the only one that you'll be able to buy easily as diy but I wouldn't describe it as a diy install, as with all wirefree systems there is lots of programming. The Scantronic hybrid is probably easier but not available to diy but we might be able to sort that The Risco Agiltiy is way beyond a diy install.

The best available isn't available to the diyers for lots of reasons. As I said before, it really depends what grade of system you need as a diy install will not be graded.

Re: Best Wireless Intruder Alarm

Hi

permit me to join in this thread as i'm also pursuing the best wireless intruder alarm with the possibility of a DIY install.

Referring to a Scantronic Hybrid would this include the Scantronic ion 16. This is the system i've been looking at and D/L the installation manual last night. Reading through, it is well instructed. However like all things DIY (Do it yourself / destroy it yourself) before you dive in, it reads well but when it actually comes down to it, you find that its slightly more complex. Would you say the ION 16 is a practical DIY install?

thank you.

Post Re: Best Wireless Intruder Alarm

I've been using a wireless system called Alertme for over a year now and Im very happy with it. You install it yourself and they provide fantastic customer support. System can call/text/email you and/or your alternative key holders and is very configurable through a user friendly secure webpage. Also can monitor your smoke/carbon monoxide alarms. You can add cameras to the system as well as SmartPlugs. More info on their website and a user forum that is very active by owners and customer service.

Good luck with your search for the right system for your home.

Re: Best Wireless Intruder Alarm

With regard to these systems is there any advantage in choosing one with hard wired panel and bell? I 'm not sure about the others but I know the "infinite" has this.
