Power over Ethernet

Hi,
I'm upgrading my 4 camera cctv system and will be running the video signal and power using POE with BNC to RJ45 Balums.

I'm confident that this setup will work with 4 individual cameras and 4 independant power supplies

But will this work, or is the 3amp supply going to be too great?

I can't find any guidance at all online - can anyone offer any advice?

If you want to go for one power supply you would be better going for one which has 4 x 1amp outputs. Easily enough power for each camera and gets everything neat and tidy. They are readily available from a number of places - online and on the high street.
I wouldn't do what you are proposing in the second diagram.

Assuming your running analogue cams then its not PoE your using but power over Cat5 there are plenty of CCTV power injector baluns available and you will need to use the correct PSU for your cams. Due to the small copper area in Cat5 the power you can send over it is quite limited.

Yup i agree with dave, a 4x1 amp PSU will work out the best. Ive used Dantech in the past and have no problems with them, each fuse holder has an led to ID any blownfuses too.
