Question Best light switch for use with Harmony 1000

Hi! I have a harmony 1000 which i am using to control my screen, projector, blue ray e.t.c.

But i would like to use it to control the rooms lighting. All of the lighting is on a 2 gang 4 dipper switch which is on the wall outside the room.

Any reccomendations on a unit would be great, and it must work through a wall/door

Thanks
Elliott

Do you mean the light switch is not in the same room the harony will be used in?

If so without adding more wiring Rako is the only option i can think of!

Thanks

You may be able to find a Z-wave switch that will work with harmony (or did they take out of the 1000?)

But replacing the switch wont split the lights into 2 channels

Rako.....not cheap but will work Control of lamps as 2 circuits, Control from a panel out of room and IR control from Remote in room.

So i hear from a colleague the harmony remotes emit RF. then if thats the case providing the marmitek product is in their product library it should be ok. naturally you would need to look in to it before parting with your money, but certainly worth a shot

I would be very surprised if the Harmony Z-wave protocol worked with marmitek

Takes radio frequency commands from Marmitek wireless controllers (remote controls, wireless switches and wireless sensors) and converts them to the X-10 signals carried over existing house wiring.
No mention of Z-wave compatibility... RF is Radio frequency and there are very few compatible RF systems most are proprietry, Z-wave, Zigbee, Wi-Fi and few others are open standards and brand interoperable

Innovus.eu are Z-wave but i beleive Logitech pulled the 3rd party integration of the 1000 its ther eon the 890 and 895 but not he 1000 not usre about the 1100

Re: Best light switch for use with Harmony 1000

Forget RF use the Harmony's IR instead with one of these x10 IR receivers

IRRF7243 RF Infrared Controller - X10 - Marmitek - Controllers - Home automation - Comm4All

The x10 signal is recived by the 7243 reciever and then transmitted through the powerline to the x10 module.

The 7243 is listed in the Harmony database and so all commands work: on, off, dim, brighten, all units off, lights on etc

I am using Harmony One to control x10 plug in modules for lights and power sockets in my HC setup. With a Marmitek CM15pro I have a macro for 'lights up' and 'lights down' for various lighting effects.

The only bad thing is reliablity of operation due to x10 signal absorption and noise from the many devices on the powerline. I needed to add x10 plug in filters to improve it.

Re: Best light switch for use with Harmony 1000

Sorry to ask a stupid question. It seems the problem here is that the switch does not have line of sight with the remote control (?). Can anyone recommend a dimmer that will work with the harmony one/1000/etc if the switch is in the same room?

Cheers and sorry for the slight thread hijack!
