Leax Lighting Remote Control Codes/Driver

Hi all

Bit of a long shot but I wonder if anyone has managed to control a Leax lighting system over IR? Our client has a Leax supplied IR remote which we would love to emulate. If anyone has incorporated one into a Pronto, Nevo, AMX etc I would love to get a copy of the driver.

Any help appreciated.

Dave

Re: Leax Lighting Remote Control Codes/Driver

I used a fair bit of Leax in my Smartkontrols days and most used IR control. The initial problem is working out if you have IR receivers on the keypads as this was an option and the only sure way is to dis-assemble the keypad to see if the receiver is fitted (behind the dim up/down key if memory servers correct).

The next problem is that there were several sets of IR codes used by Leax and there is nothing in the product code that identifies which set is fitted to the keypad. The codes were held in a pic on the keypad circuit board and once fitted even Leax did not know which code set was installed, it was simply trial and error with several IR remotes using diferrent code sets until you found the one that worked. I eventually got a "special" remote from Leax that fired off multiple commands for each button so that there was a good chance that one of command sets would be correct.

Back then it was the custom installers we supplied the hardware to that installed/programmed the prontos so I never needed to retain the pronto files or hex codes. I simply had to make sure that there was a remote (or multiple remotes) on site that worked with all of the keypads fitted with IR.

You could try giving Smart Home Controls a call to see if they have any Leax remotes in their stores, you might then be able to learn the codes from these into a pronto and give them a try on site to see if they work.

Re: Leax Lighting Remote Control Codes/Driver

Hi Neil

Thanks for the reply mate. I actually came across some old posts of yours in relation to Leax so thanks for the response.

We actually have a remote on site which works no problem. We normally learn remotes in to our Crestron systems and this is where the Leax remote causes problems. If a Pronto works then I might get one and try learning that way - certainly be cheaper than a new rack. We dont normally use them but I could always get one and flip it on ebay.

Thanks again.
