CCTV - I should have known better?

I'm fully prepared for the comments this post will bring.

Always fancied a cctv outside over the back garden - not sure what to get so plumped for the Sentient 5.8GHz model N20GB reduced by Maplins from £130 to £75.

The first surprise, being handed the box - yes it cant all be in there surely?

Got it home and are really disappointed - everything looks sepia with very little colour. Also annoying interference which used to be the old cross channel interference on VCR's in the old days

Not really sure whether its faulty of course

What do you want the camera for?

Wireless cameras are always a no-go in my opinion, too many devices can cause problems with the signal. Ok, so it's on the 5.8ghz band, which not too many devices are using just yet, but give it time - they'll soon be having the same issues as the 2.4ghz range, which most DECT phones, Broadband routers and video/audio 'senders' use.

I'd take the camera back and purchase a mid-range wired one. Sure, you'll have to run the wire into your house, but you'll certainly get a better picture. Take a look at:
