Dimmer with G4

I have a ceiling light that uses c.10 G4 halogen bulbs. I also have two wall lights that each use 3 G4 halogen bulbs.

I really want to switch my switch (!) to a dimmer.

Please would someone recommend a dimmer that will work? Is something like this suitable Polar Bright White Switches and Sockets, White Switches and Sockets, Switches & Sockets, Electrical Accessories, Polar 2 Way Double Dimmer - 250Va 12V Halogen, astra247.com -?

what wattage are bulbs (thats the critical thing when chossing a dimmer) Also the 240V-12V transformers must be compatible with the dimmer.

The bulbs are 12V 10W each.

Re: Dimmer with G4

most 50W electronic transformers don't like dimming 20W lamps, so be careful with 10W.

Re: Dimmer with G4

If you buy a good quality transformer such as a Mode Lighting ET-C Transformer, you should be fine as these are specified down to 20W. these are the best i have found, and the most quiet. I imagine the 3 x Wall lights are on 1 circuit making the load 30W?

The Ceiling light would require a 100W rated transformer if what you are saying is that there are 10 x 10W bulbs.
