electrical switching/led/ipod dilemma

Okay heres the script , tonight I created a small recess in my wall next to my light switch for my onkyo dock to sit in with Ipod . I used a left over LED from the set I bought for my stairs.

Heres the dilemma , I have gu10s in the living room which will need to be dimmable , and another switch if needed for the single LED in the dock box.

What I hoped would be possible would be to use a 2 way dimmer switch , so in theory when I dim the main gu10s the LEd would become brighter but I have since relised I cant dim an LED. I dont reall fancy the idea of having another seperate switch soley for 1 LED and I dont think I can get a 2 gang with one side dimmer and other side switch .

Will probably end up using the varilight switches so as I can control them with a harmony remote , is there any way to control the LED with the remote .

or any other solutions ?

The LED is 9v I think , may be 12V will check tomorow dunno if it would be possible to wire it to the dock somehow so as it only comes on when the dock is on ?

Any ideas guys ?

Re: electrical switching/led/ipod dilemma

you can get a 2 gang dimmer then replace one of the dimming modules with a module that is the same but doesn't dim it only turns on and off, there not much prob about a fiver, the 2 gang dimmer for white will be about 30 quid.

to change the module you just pull the knob of the dimmer undo a nut on the dimmer thread and swap the module for the swicth only one, pop into a local electrical wholesalers and they should be able to help, ive done this loads of times so i know it is possible,
hope this helps
