Digilinx or Control4

Can someone let me know which system is best for 1 cinema room, 4 rooms of music and lighting throughout?
I have looked at both digilinx and contol4... I personally am really impressed with control4 and digilinx looks a bit more complicated? has anyone got any thoughts on this?
thanks

Re: Digilinx or Control4

Hi,

I have used both and they are different in their implementation...

I personally prefer Control4 in my installations and find it reliable and robust... Now that control 4 have a 'new' range of touchscreens more and more clients are choosing the control4 option..

Regards

Re: Digilinx or Control4

Thanks for that.... Why do you prefer Control4? How does it compare with other products on the market? Have you heard any bad things about it?

I agree - we find the Control 4 implementation to be much more polished. They seem to be going from strength to strength with better and better products.

Are you installing it?
Which lighting system?
What audio sources?
What control interface?

Control 4 is more proprietry and its interfacing is more limtied, Diglinx is an audio and control system there is no "diglinx" lighting system it integrates to all the major lighting systems Lutron, Ilight, Helvar, Rako EIB/KNX etc etc

You may want to consider Opus as a cheaper alternative to both. for 4 rooms of music and a cinema room (is that the 5th room?)

There are different ways of acheiving your desired results. Some better some cheaper, some more integrated.

All of the solutions are installer only so unless you're an installer the way the system goes together isn't your responsibility. The end result is, I wouldn't worry about the specs its all about the end user experience.

I would depending on the sort of system your after actually propose a totally different system which is more centred on your needs rather than a specific systems capabilities.

But thats just me.

Re: Digilinx or Control4

thanks horny dragon. my only note about your reply is that i was of the understanding that Control4 is meant to be compatible with pretty much any 3rd party product as well? is this not the case? the chap who has done my survey seemed to give me that impression?

obviously i need to do a bit more reasearch......

Re: Digilinx or Control4

I am not a control 4 installer so i only know the basics of what it can do, when i looked at it the integration is best with certain systems the rest its down to the installer/programmer. Control 4 have there own lighting system so if your happy with that then its fine, if not then its down to the integrator to make it work. Whats possible in theory and whats practical are often 2 very different things.

I would require alot more information before reconmending anything specific. Where are you? What about the Opus Touchscreen are you not keen on? Compared to the Digilinx and C4 units?

Re: Digilinx or Control4

I too install lots of Control4 and wouldn't use anything else unless specifically instructed by a client.

Control 4 can do everything that you want to do for a fraction of the cost of Digilinx.

I have had experience of Digilinx and had a significant number of problems with it.

Where are you based?

K.

Surely that is the case with most things? It is up to someone competent to deliver the theory.

I dont think people should be put off custom installations because of potentially unfounded worries about the installer. If we all thought like that we would just cobble consumer units together and there would be no innovative systems installed. Custom Installaton would be just about pulling wires rather than installing bespoke systems.

Perhaps the original poster should actually be researching the installation comany rather than the product?

Indeed, doesn't stop manufacturers, Distributors or dealers pushing features that are misleadingly marketed or not as functional as they should be.

Indeed - which is only slightly worse than other manufacturers, distributors and dealers making disparaging comments about other peoples products! Unless, of course, they have evidence to back up their views.

I dont think you are having a dig mate.

I'm just not sure the dig at Control4 is justified.

Anyway this isnt helping the OP.
