I have just moved house and now have a large number of GU10 spot lamps.

The previous owner has installed four LED bulbs in the kitchen and had left two normal halogens.

There are also 12 halogens in the living room and 8 in the bathroom.

I bought two white LED GU10's from B&Q but they are not the same colour as the other four already fitted. The four already fitted seem to be a warm yellow colour more like that of a halogen bulb.

My question is having read a number of threads on here just now a number of which date back a long way, are there any GU10 LED bulbs worth having yet.

Seems the ones I have are no were near as powerful as the halogen equivalent.

Had a look on eBay under GU10 LED and it comes up with over 2k of results. They differ in number of LED's from 1 upwards to around 48 with various claims on power output etc.

Has anyone actually bought and used LED GU10's in a main lighting rather than mood lighting function and if so what can they recommend.

The lounge has three dimmer switches, each controlling a row of four GU10's. As it would appear that most LED GU10's are not dimmable I might replace the two outer rows with LED bulbs and keep halogens in the central row.

But only if there are bulbs out their worth having, or are we still sticking to halogens?

I use LED GU10's for main lighting in my bedroom and hallway.

They are a cool white LED, each bulb has 15 led's. I wouldn't say they are as bright as a 50w halogen but I don't want them to be. I prefer an ambience of light as opposed to being blinded.

My bedroom has 4 x LED and the hallway x 2.

I also have 8 in my lounge which are still 50w halogen, may change them soon .

i bought energy saving gu10 bulbs from ebay.. never fitted in the TLC fitting. Dont bother with ebay.

TLC do a new range of energy saving gu10's. Still new technology but the bulbs do not pertrude, have a good 10,000hrs + and give good light.. BUT they are around £17 a bulb!!

Whenever I have seen 5mm (rather than Luxeon) based LED lighting, I have been disappointed. The 5mm products give poor colour temperature, short life and low outputs. They also tend to give a peculiar patchy beam pattern. There is a large disparity in cost here, but, in my opimion, Luxeon is a viable lighting technology where the 5mm alternatives are not.

i am using around about 50 led of various sorts in my house .. i would say the best ones to go for at the moment are the three bulb luxeon they have a good light and very simular to the standard gu10 bulb
they range from £10.00 these are copies (plasitc cooling)they work great but romour has it there life is alot less than the £15.00 ones (metal cooling housing) these look the same but have a {cree} bulbs in them they are the best that ive had and should last for 5000 hours i think thats around 40 years of normal use
if you search for kyman in goolgle you should find a distributor and u no these are the best money can buy

i have 3 bedrooms and my kitchen / front room /hallway all in leds the saving on electric are amazing ,,i run 60% of my house on solar so i needed a bulb that would be cost effective and the £15 cree pay for themselves in about 8 months they are only 3w ..35w of light
also there are two colours used when buying led,s one is warm white and cool white ..warm white is very simular to the standard gu10 bulb and the cool is more of a white /white ..i mix and match these and get a very vibrant look

i still have and use the array leds they are up to 50 leds on one bulb they are ok for mood lighting but not so good for reading /living etc these having been running for around 4 years now and only 4 of them have ever stopped working u compare that to a standard gu10 and they need to be replaced every now and then ..
