Question TV Overlay-ability

Does anyone know of something that, for reasonable cost, will allow messages to be overlaid on an HDMI signal. I have previously been using a hacked Tivo to achieve this (not over HDMI) but am now moving in to the HD world.

I'm kinda hoping that some of the AV amps that do HDMI switching and OSD for setup can be used to achieve this somehow. But there could be other options.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Re: TV Overlay-ability

My Onkyo SR605 overlays input, volume and listening mode information over HDMI. This only happens with inputs that are upscaled to HDMI though. Also, it doesnt do what im guessing you want (things like caller ID?) but it is possible for devices to do it!

Let me know how you get on as I would like to have things like new email pop ups overlayed
