I've wired an AM12W to a porch light, but the light stays permanently on and doesn't respond to X10 Unit Off codes.

The module instructions don't have a wiring diagram, but this is how I've wired it (in-line on live):

1. Mains Live to brown wire on AM12W;
2. Mains Neutral to blue wire on AM12W and Neutral on light;
3. Mains earth to Earth on light;
4. Black wire on AM12W to Live on light.

I'm using an appliance module instead of a Lamp Module as I just want On/Off. The porch light is a mains power unit with internal transformers etc. to drive two 8W flourescents.

For test purposes I've just plugged it into a wall socket. Now if I take the AM12W out of the circuit, and plug the light in via a plug-in LM12U Lamp Module instead, it works fine. I can switch it on and off fine with an X10 remote or a Hawkeye. The house and unit codes are the same on the AM and the LM.

Any ideas ? (Does the wiring sound right ?)

Wiring was fine, setup was all OK. Turned out the socket I was using was a spur off one with a DECT phone power supply plugged into it that was sucking up all but about 20mV of the X10 signal. That was enough signal for the LM12 to make sense of, but not for the AM12.
