multi room system in new build

Im trying to help a friend in his new build install a systemline modular system and we have come up against some problems and hope some one can help us out . What the problem is in his living room he is going to have a sony vlp-vw50 hd projector linked up to this he will have his ps3 + a dreambox 800 hd the dreambox is ok as it lets you use the audio out puts as well as hd at the same time so i can just plug this in to the local in put , the problem we have is with the ps3 when playing games we can have video out through hdmi and sound out through audio leads in to the local input but when you put a blue ray or hd dvd in i have been told it wont work as the sound for dvd is different and will only come out through the hdmi cable or the optical point , can i run a cable from the optical out put and if so how long can it be to the hub and link in to an amp then in to the systemline hub if i can do this what do i need to get to add the amp to the system line hub i know the sound is not going to be any were near what a better system would give but as he is adding the amp can i then add some different speakers just in this room

I am not sure i understand why you would want PS3 sound thorugh a systemline modular system. HOw are you changing the iputs to the systemline system?

Re: multi room system in new build

Getting systemline to work with anything other than other systemline parts is a pain and can be costly when compaired to rivals.

The solution you have come up with is the best and only sensible solution.

After a lot more thinking and driving my self mad i have come up with a couple of different amps and speakers not sure were to go i know its up to me at the end but what do you's think of them first is the onkyo tx-sr 606 at £399.99 then there is the onkyo tx-sr 506 at £224.99 is there much of a difference in these two amps or would i be better going for the 606 then there is the sony str-da2400es at £399.95 and also the denon avr-1909 not sure about the last 2 but do look ok ,then for speakers i have been looking a some speaker craft ones speaker craft accufit dt7 at 130 each speaker craft aim 7dt £140 speaker craft 5.5r £115 and the proficient c650 £135 bit lost as you can see with what to go for but have come up with these and think some thing out of it should be good for this main room were there will be a sony vlp-vw50 projector hd sat receiver and a ps3 for the kids

Re: multi room system in new build

HOw does the systemline fit into your new plans to use an AV amp? The AIM range are massively deep so may not fit in a new build ceiling.

ill have to see what space i have hope they fit in the ceiling as for the amp i have been told they should all work ok with system line i suppose it all comes down to how much i can spend they all say as long as you get the systemline zam you can link it in out of the list of speakers what would be the best to go for or are they all the same and wont give good sound for what im looking

For got to say as i have to run a hd cable to the projector what is your thoughts on these hdmi over cat5 or 6 have been looking at these

Re: multi room system in new build

The ZAM will give you a good line out and an IR input for control, the line out you can then use as an input to the Surround Sound amp.

Personally I have not had good experiences (although limited) with the cheaper HDMI orver CAT5e systems. What sort of lenght cable run would it be?

Finally, I have used Polk in-ceiling on quite a few projects now but I am still amazed by the performance for the price. The RT series are quite nice and shallow as well.

if its a run under 10m just us a normal HDMI cable, if its a run of up to 20m Use a top spec HDMI cable if its longer consider Cat5

what sort of money would be on the rt series and would you have a good place to buy , as for the run till the projector i would say 20 meters was just looking at the cat5 stuff as its cheap and a 20 meter hdmi cable can run in to alot of money for some thing good
