In a situation like this I'd suggest you at least get a second opinion.

Oh, and kudos to you for the most random thread I've seen in AVForums today.

Re: Advice needed for a New Combi Boiler

If you are after a new boiler I have to recommend a Worcester. I’ve just replaced the entire central heating system including pipework and radiators on my refurb and I have to say I don’t regret paying the extra over the other makes. The other thing to remember is if your existing boiler is on its last legs it will be a fair age. New boiler technology has drastically improved over the last 3 or 4 years due to regulations being so onerous on efficiency; you could save a fair amount over the medium term with a boiler that is over 90% efficient.

Another vote for a Worcester...I renewed mine earlier this year and paid a little more for a name that represents quality / reliability...will know better of course once it sees me through its first winter in the frozen northern wastelands !

Had this problem 6months ago. Ended up with a Worcester aswell

If a Worcester qualified engineer fits it you also get extended warranty

Re: Advice needed for a New Combi Boiler

as a plumbing and heating engineer() i would agree a worcester would be good but not the cheapest another is baxi which are quite compact in size.
and please do not let british gas do the instalation as they think just cause they are high brand company they think they can charge more. find a local plumber and i bet they would beat british gases quote
