Remote control curtains?

Hello

I am interested in installing some remote control curtains in my Bay window-total run approx 4.5 metres.

Does anyone actually have any installed they can kindly recommend?

I am not even sure if it is feasible as overcoming the bends for the bay with a motor each side may be difficult?

I currently have a plastic rail I installed several years ago but it has never run smoothly (probably due to my DIY!) and I thought of adding a RC motor I saw on Ebay-however I think I need a Professional to install such a thing

Any thoughts would be really welcome

Many thanks

Re: Remote control curtains?

I have always found Silent Gliss anything but Silent.

Personally prefer Golst's G-Rail system but neither are cheap at all. For that sort of run I would guess at between £500 and £800 depending on the weight they need to carry.

Re: Remote control curtains?

Hi Vex

I measured the run last night and its actually 3 metres (!)

As you say, its not cheap-the 5090TL range of silent gliss was about £460 (inc £95 for bending the rail).

Will take a look at Golst's G-Rail

The other (hopefully cheaper) option I thought of was to get a decent manual 'pulley' system installed professionally (so it runs smoothly) and then later on add a motor on each end of the bay I had seen for sale on Ebay (see Cheap electric curtain tracks? I can see you were not convinced by them

many thanks

Re: Remote control curtains?

Although you're right, 'Silent' Gliss aint silent, it's still not exactly noisy!!

The cheapest place I've found so far is at www.discountelectriccurtains.co.uk - I have'nt tried one of the cheaper makes yet, but it isnt something you buy everyday!

Laters,

Tony.
