Oneclick - IR not very sensitive

ok after testing out my main setup with an oneclick thats ok apart from the screen shutting down too early so I moved it off the onclick (i hooked up a maplin power meter thing to screen, running eats 19w, but shows 0.0 on idle. no complex electronics or cpus there so im not surprised)

so went up to john lewis and bought another one to go on the back wall to turn the projector on and off. now my PJ is quite happy to be turned on and off by my harmony 555 remote pointing at the wall where there screen is. but the oneclick wont play ball.

so stood at the projector screen end (about 4.5-5m away) and did some testing, it is fairly sensitive to direction, a few feet either side and it's no dice.

i experimented with a mirror pointing back but found it was pretty unreliable, not what i need with the harmony automatedly doing my powering on.

maybe i need to run mains cable from the front to the back, but is that going to cause my rear speakers to hum?
