IR Extender for my PDA

I have a PDA and I have software which allows me to control various devices using the CCF files downloaded from remotecentral.

However these work over very short ranges,as it is IRDA and so I was wondering if there is something that will increase the range.
If anyone knows about this please let me know.Prices and where it is available would also be handy.

A good extender for the IPAQ is the PDA-Ir which partners up the TVRemote software nicely. This offers Pronto CCF support as the pair give a nice alternative (for IPAQ owners) to the colour ProntoPro remote.

There will soon be a version that will work with Dell's nice new (and cheap!) PDA, the Axim A5. I believe the Dell-compatible PDA-Ir is under beta test currently and will be available shortly.

You can get a gizmo from Laser (www,laser.com) that can do this but I'm not sure which PDAs or software it works with, IIRC it's a CF plug in affair, not pretty IMO but it works.

I've got the PDA-Ir that loada has linked to. Works great, furthest I've used it is about 25ft, with no problems.

Strangely though, I don't seem to bother with using my PDA for the remote anymore, gone back to using my marantz 1200

Probably because the PDA has no decent buttons.

Unfortunately not. Needs a CF slot and the XDA only has an SD slot (at the bottom). If this is the route you want to go I would suggest gettig a Dell Axim as very very nice bit of kit and cheaper than an iPaq.

PDAs do have a few shortcomings so check it out before you commit to that route.

You'd need to find an SD card one (which don't exist) and even if they did the SD slot is on the bottom of the xda which would kind of ruin it.

Get yourself an Axim if that's the way you want to go.
