Hi All,

Wasn't sure where if to post here or in the automation so thought I'd try here first.

I have a RU950 and I beleive it has RF built in (tell me if I'm wrong!!). I want to purchase a Clipsal Ulti 2 RF (http://www.ulti.biz/) light to replace the IR dimmer I have now beacause I want to be able to set scenes (and also because my cats collar is Infrared and when she comes through the cat flap it is in direct sight of the dimmer and they switch the lights on or off!!)

Can you tell me if it is possible to control this unit directly from the pronto and if not what other equipment I would need to allow me to do this.

I'm open to suggestions on other ways of doing it.

I think the RF on most pronto's except the very latest is only to comunicate with an IR extender philips also make ( see here http://www.letsautomate.com/10921.cfm ). I have a TSU7000 and thats all it does on that model.

Quite correct, in a sense.

It is possible to use the RF in other ways though:

• X10 - The RF frequency is the same as the RF used by the X10 RF receiver (can't remember the name of it) and you can use a program called Godegen to generate the appropriate Pronto Hex codes to directly control this via RF
• The pronto sends the IR code as RF (with some added bits on the front to denote extender address so you can use more than one extender) so in theory if you can get something to receive the RF and retransmit as IR then this can be learnt by the pront, switch it to rebroadcast this as RF and Bobs you uncle. I've successfully used the RF receiver/IR transmitter half of a powermid to learn the RF for some cheapie plug in RF remote sockets using this technique, its a bit hit and miss and did take some perseverance but it did work eventually. As a bonus the powermid will also work as a simple Rf extender with the prono in RF mode and cost a tenner from E-bay

The above depends on the frequency of the original RF remote (can't remember the pronto frequency off the top of my head) but it MIGHT be technically possible to learn your RF remotes codes
