I planning to go away on holiday soon and I'd like to program our hall / bedroom lights to go on/off at various times.
What's easiest method for doing this ??? Is this a good application for Rako ? What modules would I need and how easy is Rako to fit ?? or should I stick with the tried and tested argos timer and lamp approached ???

We just use cheap units on all of the lights we want to turn on-and-off. Simple little plastic unit with a timer and a switch on, under £10 at Argos or, I imagine, B&Q. You really needn't spend a great deal on this, the cheap ones seem to work fine if you program them correctly.

If you want to go slightly more upmarket, B&Q sell the Home Easy range of remote controlled mains adapters. There is a remote timer, which can set 12 on/off cycles for up to 12 different remote sockets, which can be dimmable or not. You can also get a keyfob size remote for about a fiver to switch on/off but not dim any socket it is paired with. Sockets can be paired with up to 6 remotes.
Well worth a look as they are not expensive and may have uses beyond the holiday.
