IR Remote Control Extenders - ideas please

I wish to place, on wifes insistence, our av equipment behind an opaque glass panel. This creates the dilemma of operating the equipment via IR remote control. The equipment will be Arcam avr300, dv137, sky box and remote box for plasma. Does anyone know of anyway to do such, either with a stylish eye design (akin to that on the loewe cabinets) or via ir so tha a unit could be placed in the cabinet with the equipment and radio signals used to pass through the opaque glass?

How about a Philips Pronto, using the IR extender (uses RF between the Pronto and the extender). Not cheap , but it's very nice.

The new TSU9600 is the dogs!

hi there, you can use an ir extender from extron , im from australia, we have a few manufacturers that do something similar, but they are local, extron is international so there should be a someone that deals with that company where u are.

Its a little expensive, it consists of an ir receiver, u have to use their ir transmitter though, u also have to use their control processor which then sends the control signals to a processor which then uses ir emitters to control the required equipment.

the ir emitter can be placed neatly anywhere ,and therefore solving ur problem.

Hi

If you buy the Harmony 895 remote, you can get it with the RF extender to do exactly what you want. Fab remote (IMO). I've had mine for a year or so and it cost around £160 if memory serves....

How does the harmony receiver work - if you have multiple products (i.e dvd player amp etc) say locked in a cabinet with an opaque front do you need an IR receiver with line of sight for each product in the cabinet?
