Cable box IR

Hello everyone. Well, here's the problem:

My Telewest cable box (Scientific Atlanta Explorer 4000DVB) is housed inside a metal cabinet serving also as the tv stand. I'd just like to control the box without having to open the cabinet door as it takes a lot of the floor space and also is unsightly. There is a grill on the actual door where I can mount the IR receiver, and run the wire through (a metre in length will do). Now, I'm not sure exactly what to get, and where to get it the cheapest. I will still be using it with the original Telewest remote. All I'm able to find is the Grundig IR extender, and I'm not sure it's the best one, or even, if it's the right one. Maybe there's a cheaper solution?

Thanks in advance.
