I have a small business and i need to upgrade my vhs time laps system, i have one camera in my shop and i am planning to put a second camera outside so i can see the drive way.
I monitor my shop as a full screen picture on a 21" tv from my office in the back room, but with a second outside camera i will only need a small PIP (picture in picture) in the corner of my main picture.
I am wondering what DVR's do PIP with a good recording resolution?
I am on a £250 budget and am tempted to go for the R200 which is available from : http://www.rfconcepts.co.uk/digital-recorder.htm
but the 240 line@ 25ips recorded resolution is kind of off putting.
im currently using vhs and the resolution is also around 240 lines, its ok but not ideal.
Am i right in thinking that the 240 lines resolution the R200 gives is simular to vhs?
however, its the only budget dvr i've found with PIP
I have come accross another dvr with a much higher resolution N4DVR760 with 756 lines @25ips

but it offers no PIP.

Also comparing the two dvr's above, which one is easyer to set up and use on the internet? i would like to view my cameras from my home on via the internet.

Any advice would be very welcome
also, if anyone could please email me a picture of a recorded scene from the R200 i would know what to expect.

your in luck, i have the r200, the resolution it records at is full PAL resolution so no worries there, just consider that it actually does 50fps and divides it between however many cameras you have plugged in.

however, i would strongly recommend going for an mpeg4 dvr as you get more days recording and less compression artifacts.

but you can get the same unit with a usb port for downloading onto memory stick.

you can buy these units without HDD for £89 and £110(with USB) from a trade only cctv company but the name escapes me.

just please please please! check the quality of the recordings and consider how your going to get them off to give to police
