Hi,

I bought a CCTV camera which has infrared LED lights for night vision. I want to use my camera from inside to look outside on my property through the window. It works fine during the day, but when the infrared lights come into play at night, the whole picture becomes messed up due to the double glazing window with the infrared lights reflecting all over the place, giving a useless image.

Is there anyway at all to fix this problem. Apart from putting the camera outside instead, is there anything that can be placed over the camera to stop this reflection, or is there any other sort of camera that can have night vision without using infrared lights?

Also, can anyone link me to one of these cameras where you can disguise them with a lightbulb in an outdoor light or lantern?

Not really sure about this because I have no experience in this area, but my gut feeling would be to dismantle the cam and - with some extra wiring - just place the IR outside. Shouldn't be to hard and not so easy to detect I think.

Again, no experience in this area, so this is probably a bandwith-waisting brainfart, but I am overdue for a good idea, so this might be it...

Or buy an external IR unit and disconect the one in the camera.

Dedicated IR units are usually better than the ones that come in the cameras as there is more space for the LED's.

thanks. how would this work though? Do I point the camera from inside the house towards the same exact place position as where the IR lights are pointing? And would the lights need an extra power supply? thanks.

Yes point in the same direction, you would be able to see this in the dark....usually the seperate IR units come with a PSU.

move the camera right up against the glass, usually helps
if you need it to be hidden then put net curtains between the glass and camera
