Re: hd x 4 over cat5e

Hello simon123

You can use an HDMI Distribution Amplifier in tandem with HDMI over CAT5 extenders to send SD and HD signals to Two or more Displays.

Gefen have a range of Single and Multiple Input HDMI Distribution Amps in formats including 1x4 and 1x8 along with HDMI over CAT5 extenders. See http://www.gefen.com/kvm/product.jsp?prod_id=3354 and http://www.gefen.com/kvm/product.jsp?prod_id=3872

If you require a bit more control/flexibility you can pre switch multiple Sources into the Distribution Amp using a Switch - see http://www.gefen.com/kvm/product.jsp?prod_id=3447

Alternatively you can have a 4x4 Matrix (Any Source to Any Display - http://www.gefen.com/kvm/product.jsp?prod_id=3331) or a 2x4 combined Switch and Distribution Amp (Same Source to all Displays - http://www.gefen.com/kvm/product.jsp?prod_id=3045).

You will also need to make provision for IR control alongside the HDMI Distribution - if you have a third CAT5 cable you can run a Xantech or similar system alongside the HDMI system.

Hello rich1231

I thought the Smart-e 'HD' products were yet to be released; the SNX models are billed as 'up to' 1600x1200!

Re: hd x 4 over cat5e

Do you want one input to multiple outputs or multiple inputs to multi outputs?

Either way I was with AudioAuthority at an exhibiton in Amsterdam yesterday and they have both systems available at amazing prices.

IIRC the single source multi room HD compatible system over 2 cat5e's is about £650 + Installation. For the hub and six locations from memory.

Multisource / multi room is up arround £3500.00 but still using the same faceplates and two cat5e cables.

The whole system... well there is alot of kit

the co i got it from supplied it all and the only niggle i had was the IR switching, which was fixed by a firmware fix (and now is std)

The smart e came just under a year ago and was 5 ish at the time, but when i bought it it was only 720p and 1080 i confirmed, now pretty much everything is possible over it

i had my house wired for everything, and so the cabling process was painful but everything works amazingly.. only a few more items to go then the place doesnt need me in iot to function

Re: hd x 4 over cat5e

Netstreams Panorama will do the job for you. It can distribute HD images from 4 sources to six outputs up to 1000 feet. This is all achieved using CAT5e cables.

Re: hd x 4 over cat5e

Simon - coming soon to a UK Xantech distributor near you :-

http://www.xantech.com/products/p_folder/p_hd44cc5.htm

Also be very wary of Gefen products when connecting to Yamaha/Denon amps.
