Temperature Sensors

Is it possible to have wifi temp. sensors dotted around the house that report back to a pc ?

i dare it could be done but senors are very cheap WiFI interface isnt letsautomate is a good place to try there may be a cheaper RF system that has PC connectivity ie not wifi to sensor but RF to sensor then an RF to USB box on PC
