Yes, they are about a centimetre wide and each section is about a foot long.

Re: ikea led light packs

So my post, where I've actually looked at my lights, doesn't count?
They're sort of rectangular (but not a rectangle, it's a profiled shape), more like 9mm * 6-7mm.

Re: ikea led light packs

they are slightly rounded!
great items and can use them for so ma many things, ill be posting newer pics of my setup and iv used them in the edging of glass shelves in the unit my av gear is in which gives a great bright blue strike through all 4 frosted doors.

they can also be plugged directly into each other with no gaps so you can have a huge light sabre!

Re: ikea led light packs

Not that bright if you choose blue. I use those for behind the telly. With the lights out, they give a lovely glow.
The missus bought the white ones to stick under the kitchen cabinets. Pukka for that, they're decidedly brighter and I can make a cup of char without turning the main lights on

Re: ikea led light packs

Sorry if this is a noob question but how are these wired - is there a plug or do they have to be wired into a switch or something? Not clear (to me anyway) from the IKEA picture on the web.

Re: ikea led light packs

Hi guys - really like the look of these but a bit confused How do they fit behind the TV?

I have a LCD on glass shelving so where do they attach to? Surely you cannot just stick them to the LCD - and the glass shelving is not thick enough to stick on the back?

Am I being dense!!

They come with little sticky pads.
And yes, I've stuck mine to the back of the telly.

Re: ikea led light packs

Thanks Badger - I guess they don't get very hot then? By the way how sticky are they - do they come off easy enough?

Might have to invest in this as it sounds like a cheap and cheerful way of getting some ambient light

Re: ikea led light packs

No heat at all.
They're very sticky.
I pulled one strip off when I wasn't happy with the positioning and the stickers are well stuck.
I don't worry about them, seeing as no-one can see them.
I reckon they'd come off fine with a bit of soapy water or such-like

Thanks again Badger - just worried in case I have any problems with the TV and it needs to go back!

One more question (sorry) Can you plug these LED lights directly into a plug from the transformer? and is there an on/off switch or controlled from the plug?

Re: ikea led light packs

Yep, you plug them into the mains.
You have the mains plug, then the mains lead with a switch, then some more mains lead, then the tranny, then the skinny lead, which has a little box with 4 connections.
You can use 4 independent cables or just use 1 and have the lights in a daisy chain.
It's a totally flexible setup and easy to assemble, with everything you need, no extras required

I stuck mine on to the back of my plasma using blu-tac more than 6 months ago and they are still held in place no problems

Re: ikea led light packs

There is a switch, so it's your choice.
Mine have been on non-stop for 6 months.
IIRC, they're good for 50,000 hours, so they'll be ok for another couple of years.
Perfectly safe,IMO, because they produce no heat.
The tranny gets very slightly warm.

If it's wallmounted yes.
But mine is on a stand, in the corner of the room.
When I did as you said, it didn't look right, hence my moving one.
I'd go the blue tack route, trial and error then
