need a little info on EIB

Have an interest in home automation, and have come across EIB - of which I can see there are many flavours of, I have also found some software called easystarter for instabus and Im so so so confused!

One thing Im trying to find out - is there any software that can program and control the modules/equipment on EIB?, like say vantage with qlink.

Because EIB is ment to be open source does that mean one type of software like easystarter will program all vendors modules/equipment versions of EIB?

any help would be cool.

Cheers

Unfortunately EIB isn't quite as open source as it is suggested.

Most manufacturers add their own little tweeks that makes them incompatible with other maunfacturers hardware.

Thats a bit gutting - and it was all looking very promising there for a moment. The concept sounds great - an installed system that will work or talk with anything, all running over a two wire cable.

Where abouts are you based?

I have a local installer who travels uk wide and could talk you through the full pros and cons of an EIB system.

Shame I cant justify a business trip out to you.

I'll have a word see if there is an EIB forum you can use.
