Where should the down lights go?

I am in the process of refurbing the lounge. I have decided I will probably have Rako lighting, I will have speakers in the ceiling, but where do I position the down lights? How many should I have? and on how many circuits?

The room will be about 4m by 8m, are there any design principles I should be following? any formula to help me decide? or is it trial and error?

Any thoughts or help appreciated.
