Opus500

Hi

I am thinking of installing an Opus500 syatem as one of my friends has one. However he is having great difficulty with the IR and LRC. Is this common?

Thanks

I am currently in the process of buying a multiroom system and the Opus 500 was the top of my list. I have been to a few stores and it has been mentioned that the IR can sometimes be unreliable on the Opus 500. Have you considered any other systems. The other two I am looking at are Living Control (who apparently are having a new model later this year) and Control 4 which has been recommended by some specialists but I am having difficulty getting further information about them.

Hi, i find the Opus system extremely reliable and so do all our customers, the IR can become a little unreliable if the panel is installed in direct sunlight

You can't really compar the Livingcontrol as it's almost 2X 3X the price of Opus

The Opus is a great system and seems to represent good value for money. The only problem I have experienced with the IR side of things is that it works better when you do not point the remote at the wall panel; it works everytime when you bounce the IR off another wall! I've got no idea why!

The IR off the wall thing is I believe due to the WCU500 having a very sensitive IR receiver, and it would appear if the command is sent straight at it, it is too powerful and the signal is misread.

As far as multiroom systems are concerned, I would strongly suggest looking at the new Crestron Adagio system, very reasonably priced with huge upgrade potential.

Adagio

I will second the Adagio.

The opotunities and upgrades are so great you can build up fantastic system from a simple starting point. There is also an IPOD interface that allows plug and play inputs to the Adagio AES and will then give feed back of track names etc to wired and wireless panels all around the house.

I've read a bit about the Adagio and it does seem quite promising, is the currently available in the UK, if yes how much should one be expecting to plonk down for the starter system with the Entertainment centre?
