I would like to thank you in advance for any help. Here is my problem.

There are already speakers with wiring, cat5 wires, and cable wires all leading to a central room.

I want to be able to connect the following:

Video: (send to about 4-6 different zones)
Satellite Receiver (w/ at least 2 channels watched in 2 different zones simultaneously )
DVD
VHS (*could do without*)
5 Security Cameras

I want to also be able to connect a central DVR (is this possible?)


Audio: (send to about 6-8 different zones)
CD player
Radio
Tape(*could do without*)

I would like to also be able to connect to a home network to watch or listen to movies and music from our computers


Please help.

Room7 - Sounds interesting. I think you'll need to be a bit more specific to get advice, particularly on the exisiting kit/cables.

For example:

1 - How many Cat5 runs to each room do you have?
2 - Are the speaker cables run back to the same place as the Cat5, or just to a convenient place within each room?
3 - What do you mean by "cable wires"? Are these coax tv cables?
4 - What make/model is any existing electronics you have (DVD, Satellite, CD Player etc.)?

Yo may want to consider Russound. They manufacture the CAV6.6 it is a 6 source composite video and L/R audio to 6 locations. Their keypads can control the source selection and volume control, they also act as a IR Repeater.

1 - there are about 2-3 cat5 wires running to each room
2 - All the speaker and cat5 cables alonge with coax and telephone cables are running to the same place.
3 - Yes they are coax cables

They do an excellent range of AV over CAT5e solutions ranging from 3x3 to 12x18.

Currently exhibiting with them at CEDIA Expo so should be able to answer any Q's you have.

Have you seen the Opus system? would fit the bill nicely, also just looking at your needs, you would need to install two sky box's to have two channels at the same time

I can vouch for the NEXUS system sold by www.avnex.com. After extensive research I found this to be by far the best....all things considered!

Try a look at the AVilynx from global electonics.

Saw it at the Cedia expo and was impressed fro the money.

Basic 4x4 and 8x8 matrix system using cat 5. I believe for about £600-800.

New to market so you may find it hard to obtain but they do sell direct.
