Do waterproof (battery) IR extenders exist?

I am looking into adding remote capabilities into the bathroom for a client and although I can find IR extenders, they all require mains power which is proving tricky without wiring directly into the loft space (it could be done if necessary).

Are there any battery powered IR receivers (I would need 2 from 1 transmitter) or any RF remotes which would work with the transmitter and a Sony amp and Philips Streamium SL50?

LETSAUTOMATE do a battery powered IR extender (Powermid, uses two 'C' batts).

It seems that only the receiver is battery powered, where as I need the transmitter to be battery powered as this is the one which will br placed in the bathroom.

Is there any other way around it?

Aaah...

You could connect up 9V/12v worth of cells externally. They could be boxed in neatly and out of sight but there'd be a visible lead connecting them to the xmitter. It would work though.

So instead of plugging in the power cord, I could plug in a box containing the batteries?

The other way I was thinking was a universal RF remote, but that may be more difficult with all of the programming.

I'll let him know that batteries would be an option though.

what you need is a xantech ir kit which will let you extend the ir receiver using something like cat 5 cable. the ir amp can then be located somewhere where you can plug in teh power pack.
