Or if not just some funky backlights.

The only things i can think of are led lights that are designed to change colour. These can be fitted into the floor or ceiling or as uplighters. Use google images(mood lighting led lights)

Get some Philips with ambilight. That's exactly what you are asking.

Ill give the phillips one a look in. where would they be situated? uplight or behind panel?

reson being, my pw7 is situated on a wall the same width between two windows, therefore sides would not really make much difference.

Where can I get the phillips ones from? any links?

The lights aren't seen when you are facing the set: they're behind, one on each side, disposed vertically (i.e. the long edge of the lamp is on vertical).

If you don't want lights on sides, then forget the ambiligth. Link to this ambilight thing: http://www.flattv.philips.com/index...._id=2&page=pg3

No... the ambilight lamps are not movable.

So, you will need some devices that connects to an in/out scart, process the video, and drives multicolor lamps which you'll place below and above your set... difficult but not impossible.

There from Habitat and there called "Lighting Chain" "Pill" type.

They do them in a few other colours aswell. I have to admit though my Girlfriend bought them for me.

My plasma will be flushed in the wall, with no edges... but I may rethink this now if I could have Ambient Lighting... maybe have an inch gap either side for the lights to have some effect (with plasma still rcessed in the wall)

Let's say you just want a slight yellow (normal light colour) eminating from behind the plasma. This will apparently help the eye's pupil adjust to the dark conditions. It can often be distracting sitting in total dark with a screen only aglow. It always seems less tiring on the eye if there is a slight ambiant light behind the screen when watching it.

Any suggestions, presumably a very low intensity tube (strip) light would do. 6 Watts or something, with the bulb shielded from direct viewing giving a nice glow behind the screen

I'm instead planning to have a row of downlighters toward the back of the room, on "very low" dimmed above the seating area.....
that in my view would be a better idea...

Would these be OK for making a DIY ambilight setup on a 32" LCD TV ?
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...982127134&rd=1

After reading about DIY ablilight setups I thought fish tank lights would be perfect.
So would this be OK or am I better going to Habitat to get those Phil lights
