LM12 module dimming question

I've presently got a single LM12 module within my X10 setup.

What seems to be the case is that you can't switch it from "off" to a dimmed setting - you have to switch it fully "on" then dim it down from there. Personally, I don't like this - particularly as I was thinking of using one to gradually lighten the bedroom in the morning to assist with pushing my lazy carcase out of bed

Is this expected behaviour with the LM12? Is there another dimmable X10 module available from anyone else that would allow switching to a dimmed setting direct from "off"?

Thanks, Paul
