Re: fiber optics

I have been researching the same thing. Previous post lists the only source of fiber in the UK that a I could find who will supply the right sizes and quantities at reasonable cost but postage is high. As for the light source I am looking to use the guts of a 2ft fiber optic Xmas tree and fit a powerful led spot bulb to replace the halogen one. This provides a low voltage solution with minimal heat so could be mounted almost anywhere reducing the amount of fiber required. The motor in the tree provides the twinkle effect. The LED bulb should last for years.

Re: fiber optics

Sounds like an interesting project to photograph and put on the DIY forum!
