Low energy lights

Can low energy lights cause headaches and sickness.

Some people say they cause migraines if you look at them. And they will definitely cause mercury poisoning if you eat them, if you are daft enough to do that.

However, manufacturers claim that the more recent models do not flicker or cause migraines.

Hi do you know if they leak any form of radiation that may cause headaches.

The only radiation is visible light, some infrared and a small amount of ultraviolet, nothing that will cause any direct issues.

The problems being reported (and mis-reported) in the press relates to the flicker from some CFLs triggering headaches and migraines in some people. There is also the issue of sick-building syndrome which might also be a factor for those working for long periods in rooms with no natural light.
