CCTV System advice please

Posted this in the general chat thread and got pointed in this direction.

Not sure if anyone will be able to help on here but here goes.

We have a community garden project that we think we may have a problem with some residents.

The area is quite a large area, and we would like to be able to monitor it.

So here is what i think we need:

Recordable system with 2x cameras wireless with a range of up 40mtrs day and night vision.

We don't have much of a budget £300 roughly not sure if it will be enough, but any help or advise would be much appreciated.

So far been looking at these:

IR Camera
DVR Avermedia 1304MD

Any help or advice most welcome

For your budget your never going to get a great piece of kit to monitor your project. But if that is the limit of your budget then id say buy just the one camera for now and see how it performs, obviously the bigger hard drive you get the more recording hours you can have at a better recording quality, if your only going for 2 cams 160gb will be fine and will give you atleast 14 days of recording but 250gb would be obviously better.

How well is the area illuminated at night? Is it pitch black or are there street lights near by? The more lights you can get in the area the better to help the cameras when its dark so maybe fit up a couple of halogen security lights too in the field of vision of the camera.

Sorry i can be of any help with the specific camera and DVR but ive never used those ones so cant comment on there performance.

Thanks for the reply. theres no lighting at all in the area the cameras are going to be situated.

Would some security lights be a better option than CCTV? dark clothin gin a dim lit area is going to make anything very difficult to identify

Are you installing this system yourself?

EDIT realised you want wireless! (What about cabling, are you looking at analogue or an IP solution?)

I work for a company that sells CCTV/TP as part of our vast range, but its not my specialist subject! Willing to help with the right info.

Hi mate,

Yes installing myself analogue ip ? don't know, it's just to monitor a community garden project at the back of our houses just incase somebody decides to ruin it.
The camera or cameras will be fixed to my house which is more central, there is no lighting whatsoever in the area and we would like it to be able to see upto 30mtrs in the dark.
We only have upto £300 to spend on any system we purchase i know its not a lot for what we want but even if it just deters people.

I've attached a pic of the area if that helps.

Nice big garden you've got there! Maybe investing in a couple of dummy cameras and security lighting would be the best start. Its a large area to cover with only 2 cameras and getting an ID on someone will be very hard unless they are the honey monster. Id say you could get 2 or 3 lights and a couple of dummy's for £60 tops probably less off the internet.

You may want to look at the Panasoni BL-C140-C190.
An outdoor IP camera (not wireless). The do an indoor wireless one also but not rated for outdoor use.

Spec:
1/4" OUTDOOR IP FIXED CAMERA
MPEG/JPEG - COLOR NIGHT VIEW
MODE

Ideal for home/business use.

Remeber all cams will need power! so unless you have local power you might as well wire them in!

Analogue Wireless cams which are about £150 with reciver or £75 without (some recievers can work with multiple cams but cam specs are lower

HAve a look here for an idea for wired > Home > CCTV > CCTV Cameras > Long Range IR Night Vision Cameras or wireless > Home > Wireless CCTV > Wireless CCTV Cameras > Wireless High Resolution IR Camera (NOTE THE RANGE SPECS)
