I have a washing machine that sometimes trips the electricity. Is there a device that I can plug the washine machine into to trip that rather than the whole ring main?

I would get a R.C.D and plug your washing machine into that , It really needs looking at though as there could be something unsafe going on which could result in injury to someone.

Is it tripping the MCB for just that circuit, or an RCD or RCBO - it should have something written on the front. If you post the exact details I'll let you know the problem, it could be something of nothing or it could be something more serious.
