Lighting options with Grafik Eye

Hi,

I'm currently converting my loft for use as a dedicated cinema room. I have a few plans as to what I want to do lighting wise, but I'm not certain on what to use in 2 areas.

1. Main down lighting.
2. Diffused up lighting

I have a Lutron Grafik eye (GRX 3104) to pick up from the post office tomorrow. I'll be honest and say that I didn't do all my research before buying this unit - luckily I think it is going to everything I need.

For the down lighting I need around 10 - 12 spot lights, probably not more than 35w each (guestimate) if we're talking traditional 240v GU10s which I have in my kitchen and bathroom. I am very concious of the heat this type of bulb gives off so I'd like to consider a low voltage version. My big question here is which type of LV spots work happily with a Grafik Eye?

For the up lighting ideally I'd like to go for some colour changing LED strip lights. I've seen these sold in 5m lengths on ebay etc and guess I'd need 3-4 of these. My questions here are:

1. What would be required to get these working with the grafik eye?
2. What controls the colour change of the lights?
3. What sort of cost am I looking at?

As always on AVF, I really appreciate any input I get.

Cheers

Rob

Re: Lighting options with Grafik Eye

FOR control of RGB LEDS you will probably need a DMX interface for the graphic eye (not cheap!) AS long as you use dimmable transformers most 12V halogens are fine.

Thanks for that. How about if I used single colour LEDs? Could these be direct controlled by the Lutron and dimmed?

Cheers
