X10 Help Please?

Hi All

Just got the marmitek infrared controller & x10 appliance module for use with my harmony remote and im having issues

i got it all set up and working everything ok when pressing the button on the remote 'Click' goes the plug etc.

But! when i plug my appliance into the module around 5 seconds later it just 'Clicks' and the module turns on, on its own without getting any instruction to do so. ive changed the freq's and it does the same all the time.

Does anyone have any advice or ideas to why this is doing it? im really confused lol

thanks all

Re: X10 Help Please?

Sounds like the local control 'feature'. I'm guesing you've got one of the old style Appliance modules (AM12) ?
Have a look here: Local Control for Lamp And Appliance Modules - X10Wiki

I suspect the newer type appliance modules don't suffer as they are a different design.http://www.letsautomate.com/12167.cf...4-ebcc59e8d3b0

Hope this helps

Re: X10 Help Please?

Nope - both Lamp and Appliance modules feature it - IIRC you switch the connected device On/Off/On to switch the X10 module.

I tested this onan AM12 and your are quite correct.

What may have caught me out is that it only seems to work for incandescent lights. I guess when I first tested first this function I must have used something it wasn't sensitive to.

I checked with my supplier about the 'newer modules' He is telling me that they are not an official x10 product!!

Re: X10 Help Please?

Not sure what counts as an 'official' X10 product anymore - if there ever was such a thing. X10 has a long and checkered history (all the way back to a couple of blokes in Scotland circa 1974) X10 Wireless Technology - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

If Letsautomate sell them that's good enough for me
Out of interest, who's your supplier ?

For the OP - The Wiki says cut the wire, personally I'd look at trying something else. What are you using to power the fans ? I'd try a different power supply first.

Cheers
