Lay Network cable while floor is up?

We're in the process of decorating the back room and have floorboards up.

We are already 'wireless' regarding broadband/PS3, and with the advent of the likes of Homeplugs, aswell as the aforementioned wireless network, is it worth laying a CAT5E or whatever you call it for possibel future applications.?

I'm not sure what i would use it for anyway!

Always a good idea especially if you can get to the area where the router is, wired networks run so much better than wireless and data over mains solutions. What will the room be used for?

Using a wired ethernet pays dividends in speed and security! Considering the price of Ct5e cable it would be advantageous, I have never had my wired network 'go down'!

Regarding the useage of the room, it will be a spare bed/office. So yeah it would seem obvious to put one in. If I'd use it I dont know but atleast if its there...! You never know what the future may bring, could end up wanting a terabyte NAS server for all my music!

Its just a pity I cant get the 'other end' of the cable easily to the router!

Considering how cheap cat5 ethernet cable is, it'd be foolish not to bother running some.... You never know when it's gonna come in handy and I think in the future it's gonna be capable of running a lot more than just internet or data signals....

In one way I wish my house had needed decorating when I moved in, as if it had every room in the house would have got 2 network points Yes, even the bathroom LOL

If getting to the router is an issue leave a big coil so you can when you decide to redecorate etc.
